Pharr Man Sentenced to 25 Years after Guilty Verdicts Related to Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child

EDINBURG – A Hidalgo County jury found Juan Pedro Correa, 50, of Pharr, TX, guilty of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child and Indecency with a Child by Contact, announced Hidalgo County District Attorney Toribio “Terry” Palacios.  The jury returned its verdicts on February 6, 2024.

On December 7, 2022, the McAllen Police Department was dispatched in reference to a Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child allegation involving Correa and a minor child. The ensuing investigation revealed that Correa had sexually abused a 7-year-old child on a continuous basis.

Throughout the trial, evidence and testimony showed the disturbing manner in which the acts of abuse occurred. Juan Correa was sentenced to 25 years on a count of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child and 20 years on a count of Indecency with a Child by Contact. The jury trial was heard by presiding Judge Rose Guerra Reyna in the 206th District Court of Hidalgo County.

“I am thankful for the diligent work put in by law enforcement, child protective services, and school counselors in this case who made the victim’s voice heard,” said Hidalgo County District Attorney Toribio “Terry” Palacios. “The children of our community deserve to live in safe environments and the jury’s verdict certainly helps in that endeavor.”

The charges are the result of an investigation conducted by the McAllen Police Department.

Assistant District Attorneys Nicole Rodriguez and Ricardo Hernandez prosecuted the case.
