The human trafficking division, funded by the Buffett-McCain Institute Initiative to Combat Modern Slavery, investigates and prosecutes crimes of labor trafficking listed in Chapter 20A of the Texas Penal Code.
The human trafficking division, funded by the Buffett-McCain Institute Initiative to Combat Modern Slavery, investigates and prosecutes crimes of labor trafficking listed in Chapter 20A of the Texas Penal Code; and, it assists in the screening and prosecution of wage theft and worker exploitation cases related to labor trafficking. In addition, the division is working towards promoting further awareness and prevention of human trafficking through the coordinated support and growth of the Rio Grande Valley Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force. The division consists of a labor trafficking specialty prosecutor, an investigator and a task force coordinator.
